What the hell is Hali doing here?

Apprehension slid down his back, the woman could be spiteful and mean when she was in a mood. But then she would be the sweetest woman ever towards her kids. He hoped she liked Ariana, or things would escalate very quickly.

He didn’t dare use mind speak in front of her to warn Ariana not to use it. As the Queen she could hear everyone at once. Instead he walked over to Ariana, leaning down to whisper in her ear.

“Brace yourself, Honey and try not to use mind speak, she can hear everything.”

He watched as Ariana paled further. “Well, shit. I’m not very good at guarding my thoughts guys.”

“Shhhh. It’ll be okay, Sugar.” Jayden joined them and formed a loose circle around Ariana, blocking her view of Hali. “Breathe okay.”

Ariana looked around wildly, “The girls! Get the girls and Mick, and Lawson out of sight!”

“Too late for that darling.” Hali spoke up behind them. Her voice always reminded Aiden of tinkling bells. It was pleasant, and sweet. But could make your ears bleed when misused.

Aiden shot a glare over his shoulder at Mateo, tension locked up Aiden’s muscles. He figured she had never met anyone’s parents, if he was being honest with himself he hadn’t even thought about it. With his own being dead, it never occurred to him that she would at some point have to meet the guys parents. Gray’s mother was still alive, and living in South Carolina. If they didn’t find Gray soon he was going to have to make a difficult call. Jayden’s were traveling the world, who knew where they were right now. Last he knew they were headed to live in India for a month or so. Roman’s mom was in Scotland with his other siblings, and Easton’s were still in England. Aiden was furious at himself that he didn’t think to prepare her better for their families. It was hard to think that they had only really known each other for a couple months. He felt like he had known Ariana his entire life and the girls were his. He hoped someday to see Ariana swell with their children, he didn’t give a damn who the father ended up being. Any child she had would be all of theirs.

“Mother, you said you would give me three days! It’s been barely eight hours since we spoke last.”

“Yes, well you know I have never been patient. Plus you can’t expect me to not come when you drop a bomb like ‘you’ll tell me about them, later’! I mean really Mateo?” Queen Hali huffed a laugh.

“Now move aside so I may see the woman who has stolen all of my sons hearts. And just where is Gray?”

Aiden flinched, he knew Hali was not going to be happy that they hadn’t told her what happened to Gray. Looking around he knew it had escaped everyone’s mind to let the parents know. Everything had happened so fast and they were still trying to develop their own relationships with Ariana.
